Reading books is a writer’s passion.

A former Catholic Press Association Book Awards judge and book reviewer for Inscriptions Magazine, ForeWord,

and Atlantic Publishing Company, I additionally worked as an independent contractor doing reviews for

Sacramento Book Review/ San Francisco Book Review, IndieReader, and Chanticleer Book Reviews,

as well as doing private book reviews for individual authors and publicists.

    I find doing book reviews both interesting and enriching to my own writing and review both fiction and non-fiction for adults and children. 

                                                   As a freelance journalist, my writing deadlines and work always take priority.

    I set professional fees for my article writing, editing, and unpublished manuscript critiques. However, I don't believe in setting a rate for

    book reviews.

   All I ask for, in consideration of the hours I spend reading, writing a professional review, & promoting your book, is a donation.

I leave it to the author's budget & discretion as to what this amount will be.

Payment amount in no way influences my review of the work.

I realize this is not the norm, but my professional integrity comes first, and I feel more comfortable doing book reviews this way. The authors I have worked with seem to agree.

I will only write an honest, professional review based on my opinion of the book on a 5 star system. 

Critique service of unpublished manuscripts

Every book is different. So, too, is every unpublished manuscript.


Rates for this service take into account amount of work needed, as well as the author’s budget, to determine a fair price for both of us.


Authors may choose between:

• 2 page general overview critique or

• 6-10 page in-depth critique with specific examples and chapter notes.
